About Dr. Christopher Lohmann

After studying business administration and completing a doctorate on game theory and Niklas Luhmann’s concept of trust, Christopher started his professional career in the insurance industry. For 18 years, he worked for Allianz in various functions and was able to get to know many facets of leadership and management – and grow personally in the process. In 2017, he moved to the Board of Management of the Gothaer Group before becoming a member of the Board of Management of Talanx in 2020. In the industrial segment of Allianz, at Gothaer as well as at Talanx/HDI, he held overall responsibility for the companies and people entrusted to him as CEO for more than 10 years.

In his 24 years as a manager and board member, Christopher initiated and drove many change and transformation projects. The “Kraft in Köln” realignment of Allianz, the “Am Puls der Kunden” initiative in the industrial business of Allianz, the “Expedition 2022” of Gothaer to become a partner of the SME sector and the “Go25” strategy programme of HDI Germany are examples. Agile forms of cooperation were increasingly important, from autonomous sales teams to the pilot commercial business segment at Gothaer to Agile@Scale at HDI with more than 3,000 employees.

Christopher has gained extensive experience in managing major transformations. He has been able to experience operationally that change is a constant companion and must be managed comprehensively and actively, also and especially the supposedly soft side. An interest in transformation became a passion. In 2022, Christopher decided to give up his job as a board member in order to focus on actively supporting change at HR Pioneers. The leadership and management levels and their challenges are a particular focus.
